Cusco, what does it conjure up. Nestled high in the Andes at 3200m.
A beautiful city built of both Inca and Spanish Colonial architecture,
with a remarkable history. One of the last Inca strongholds, which still
has many ghosts of that history. The magnificent ruins of Saqsaywaman,
the fortress of Pisac and the simply brilliant Citadel of Machu Picchu.
X-Zone situated 3 miles outside Cusco to the north east is part of the
Saysaywaman Sanctuary and holds its own secrets, and the beautiful Inca
Viaduct that is Chacan.
This tour is for the budding archaeologist; those who wish to learn
more about the fantastic history that Cusco, centre of the universe holds.
This holidía is a voyage of discovery where your guide will open your
eyes to the fantastic Inca culture. In our 5 * journey through the land
of the Incas we can discover some of the secrets of the Incas and also
see how the lives of the indigenous people still mirror that of the Inca.

Día 1. Arrival Jorge Chavez International Airport, Lima, Peru. Here
we will be met by one of our representatives and transferred to our hotel.
Día 2. Buffet breakfast at our hotel and transfer to the airport for
our one-hour flight to Cusco. In Cusco we will be transferred to our
hotel and will have some time to relax, unpack and eat lunch before boarding
out transport to the ruins of Tipon the first stop on our archaeological
tour.
Tipon ruins are rarely visited but contain some of the finest agricultural
terraces in existence; in addition they are thought to be an agricultural
laboratory and a temple. After our expert guided tour we will drive a
little further South to the ruins of Pikillaqta, a Wari city that has
a different type of architectural style to that most commonly seen in
the area. Our guide will steer us through the different cultures that
have lived in this area.
Día 3. Todía we have a full día of ruins. We will visit the palace of
Saqsaywaman, with its giant stones. One of the most powerful energy points
in the worlds. We also visit, Tambomachay an Inca water temple, Puca
Pucara, a control point at the entrance of Cusco, Templo de la Luna (The
Moon Temple), Zona X (X-Zone), and Chacan. At Chacan we will have the
opportunity to enjoy a boxed lunch by the side of the river. On our trip
round the ruins our guide will explain the significance of these ruins
and show us the different forms of construction that the Inca used.
We will have the noche free to enjoy the town of Cusco, and its world
class restaurants. If you are unsure where to eat please ask as there
is something for everyone.
Sacred Valley of the Incas

Día 4. Todía we have a full Sacred Valley tour, visiting the Fortress
of Pisac, one of the largest left by the Incas, with its varied types
of construction, temples, terraces and living areas. Pisac is also home
to one of the largest handicraft markets in the area and we have a great
opportunity to buy locally produced goods. Alpaca, wool, ceramics and
paintings are among some of the things that you can purchase. After a
buffet lunch of both Peruvian and International cuisine we will continue
to the town of Ollanytambo. Ollanytambo town is the only Inca settlement,
in Peru, that is still inhabited, and the ruins are of particular archaeological
importance, a huge battle was fought here between the Spaniards and Manco
Inca during 1537, terminating in the quartering of Manco Inca.
Tonoche we will stay in the Sacred Valley of the Incas in the town of
Urubamba at the peaceful bungalows of the Sol y Luna. Night free to relax.
Día 5. An early rise for the 6am train to Aguas Calientes, and the ruins
of Machu Picchu. As we arrive earlier than most others we have more opportunity
to enjoy our guided tour through the ruins, and then the opportunity
to explore, to see, learn and make our own judgements about the Incas
and their way of life. Lunch will be served at the Machu Picchu Sanctuary
Hotel. With the rest of the afternoon free in Machu Picchu to take photographs,
to sit, to enjoy Machu Picchu and the Andes. We will spend tonoche in
Aguas Calientes, evening free to enjoy this tropical town.
Día 6. Todía we have a free día to either visit Machu Picchu or spend
the día wandering around the town of Aguas Calientes, or at the thermal
baths that gave the town its name. For those that wish a guide can be
provided. Late afternoon we will board our train back to Cusco.

Día 7. After breakfast we will depart for our walking tour of Cusco.
Our tour will begin at the Temple of Qoricancha (House of Gold). Qoricancha
is the most important temple of the Inca Empire as it is the Sun Temple
and the sun one of the most important Gods to the Inca. From here we
will visit the Cathedral with its interesting painting of the Last Supper
with the twelve disciples eating the local delicacy of cuy (guinea pig).
We will also visit the Inca Museum with its mummies and local artefacts.
Here our tour ends and allows us time to go and enjoy a leisurely lunch
and some last minute shopping.
In the evening we will all join together for a farewell buffet dinner
and a Peña show, which is a typical dancing show.
Día 8. Breakfast and transfer to Cusco airport for your flight to Lima
and onward connections.
