Quillabamba |
In agreement with our philosophy we are practicing sustainable and responsible
tourism. We understand and accept the responsibility of leaving something
for the next generation and we would we would be delighted to show you
Peru in all its glory in a responsible manner.
Our prices reflect the treatment of our staff and of course our service.
All our staff are professionals from porters to cooks to guides and they
are paid a wage to reflect the standard of commitment they give our clients
and us.
Like all the agencies in Cusco we are asked to respect the porter policy
and we do, our porters are paid in full on time, they have insurance,
wet and cold weather clothing, their entrance to the trail $13 is paid
by the company as is their train fare back to Ollantaytambo. We also
send food that is suitable for the porters as they do not want gringo
food.
We make biodegradable soap, from Peruvian olive oil, palm oil and coconut
oil. In the production of the soap we employ young mothers that would
otherwise have difficulty in finding a good job.
The soap that we make is taken on all our treks and given to each client,
it is also used by our staff.
We have participated and/or organised the following activities.
- Sponsorship and organisation of school trip for 16 children and
4 parents from the town of Ivochote, 2 days travelling by car from
the jungle to Cusco.
- Donation of school supplies to the school of Ivochote.
- Clothing donation in conjunction with the South American Explorers
to remote areas of Cusco.
- Donation to hot chocolate party in the jungle.
- Wilderness First Aid course open to the general public and orientated
towards guides in Cusco.
- All year round collection of clothing and supplies that are distributed
in the areas we travel.
