Adventure in the Andes, Cusco
Day 1. Arrival to Lima the Capital of Peru
Upon arrival you will be collected at Lima airport and transferred to the hotel in Miraflores. Here we will spend the night.
Day 2. To the Inca capital, Cusco.
After a one hour flight from Lima to Cusco we arrive to the city of Cusco high in the Andes. (3350ms). We have a short transfer through the suburbs of Cusco into the centre where we will make ourselves comfortable in our local hotel.
We have time to get organized before a short city tour where we will visit the Inca Museum, Koricancha and the colourful San Pedro market.
Welcome dinner and show at night.
Day 3. Sacred Valley of the Incas
Today we continue on our tour of the main archaeological sites in Cusco with a visit to Pisac and Ollantaytambo.
Departing Cusco we take our private transport in direction of Pisac where we will visit Awanacancha where they have excellent weaving displays and all types of cameloids.
After that we hit the enormous Inca site of Pisac. We will take our transport up to the top of the site where our guide will give us a full tour of the city. We can then spend a few hours in the local market stocking up on local gifts.
We will have lunch in a local restaurant before going onwards to the living Inka City of Ollantaytambo. Here we have a tour of both the archaeological site and the town. Night in Ollantaytambo.
Day 4. Beginning the Inka Trail
Breakfast in our hotel in Cusco before we take the short drive at the side of the railway to KM82 and the beginning of the Inca trail and its 42kms of glory. Today is easy trekking past small towns selling chicha to your local porters.
Your 6 hours walking on the Inca trail includes visits to ruins and eating time. An easy day.
Day 5. Dead Womans Pass only on the Inca Trail
Today the high pass, Dead woman at 4215ms, 12600 feet, the walk is long but slow as we climb 1000ms over 5 kms approx. A fabulous day to see hummingbirds and listen to them singing in the trees. After the pass a serious downhill to our campsite for the night.
Day 6. The Longest Day of the inca Trail
Waking up early we begin our trek to chaki cocha (dry lake). We go upwards again approx. 350ms (1050feet) to 3950 (11850 feet) and the Runkurakay Pass which means The round construction. It is possible to see Andean Geese and Deer. After the pass we have beautiful views of the Vilcabamba Mountain Range. We have lunch and continue on through cloud forest and a spectacular inca tunnel which is part of the original inca trail. Camping in Winay Wayna, and for those that still have energy the opportunity to visit the archaeological site of the same name.
Day 7. The Jewel in the Crown, Peru, Machu Picchu
Against the normal rules we depart a little later than everyone else to enjoy the stunning scenery. On arrival to Inti Punku (Sun Gate) we have the prospect of taking photos without the normal group of 300 tourists.
Today is play day, we descend to the front gate to leave our rucksacks and get our passports stamped with the logo of Machu Picchu where your guide is available all day to visit Huayna Picchu (limited numbers due to government regulations), The Inca Bridge or even for extreme hikers Machu Picchu mountain and its wonderful array of orchids. Not for the faint hearted.

Day 8. Back to Cusco
We take an early train back to Ollantaytambo and on by private transport to Cusco. We have the day free to take advantage of some of the wonderful shopping in Cusco. Cusco is a great place to pick up Alpaca clothing and also silver jewelry.
Day 9. Rafting on the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley
At 8 am you will be collected from your hotel, we will drive with views of snow capped mountains to the beginning of the trip, before we jump into the water the guides will give a safety talk about the rafting before getting kitted out.
Before we start running the rapids, we will practice the commands so we can be ready when the action arrives. Slowly going down river we will be between rocks, waves and class II, III rapids. We have a nice lunch on the backs of the Urubamba river before going back to Cusco.
Farewell dinner in the evening.
Day 10. Back to Lima
Today we have a short transfer to the small airport in Cusco where we will depart to Lima for our international flights.
