Inca Trail 4 Days/3 Nights

It is one of the most promoted treks in Peru and South America, and we assure you that you´ll get to Machupicchu by the enigmatic Incan Trail, the famous hike that will take us across the mountains, to the Sacred City of Machupicchu which was elected as one of the Seven New Wonders of the Modern World, and is the mandatory destination of the Incan Trail´s hikers.

DAY 01

camino-inca-1We´ll leave early from your hotel, in the direction of Km. 82 of the railroad track, where our expedition starts, and after having met our support team, we´ll get the backpacks ready and will cross the bridge over the Incas´ Sacred River, to enter in a dry forest which will be our first ecosystem on the itinerary. On the way, we´ll have a chance to observe how the local people live, as they mainly are farmers who grow corn and potatoes on their land. After a two hour hike, we´ll get to Miskay, a resting place, protected by avocado and eucalyptus trees. Afterwards, we´ll move on to Patallaqta or Qentimarka which was a road checkpoint, as well as a religious and administrative center, at the bottom of the valley. There, we´ll change direction, to walk towards the North-west, and will enter the Cusichaca Gorge, in which we´ll have lunch, and afterwards, we´ll go on with our ascension to the village of Guayllabamba, where we´ll once again change direction towards the North, to get to our campsite, in Ayapata, over 3,300 m.a.s.l., in a place with a privileged view, and distant from the other campsites.

Salkantay 7 Days/6 Nights

salkantay-1It is possible to connect one of this region´s most venerated Sacred Mountains, with our Modern World´s Wonder, in a 7 day program, giving you the opportunity to hike around the APU SALKANTAY and get to MACHUPICCHU, along part of the Incan Trail.

Indeed, it is one of the most beautiful and demanding high mountain hikes, we have on offer, as it combines 5 different ecosystems, in which we´ll have a chance to observe how rivers are born from the Sacred Mountains, as well as the changes in the landscape, from the Andean barren plains, to the cloud forest, full of orchids and birds that will astonish us. At the end of the hike, the Inti Punku or Sun´s Gate will appear, giving us a privileged view of Machupicchu.

DAY 1

camino-inca-5We´ll leave early in the morning, in the direction of the railway station, to start our train journey from Ollantaytambo, to Km. 104, in Chachabamba, where the entrance checkpoint is located, as well as a ceremonial complex which will welcome us to this part of the Incan Trail, and after a short visit of the place, we´ll undertake the 3 hour uphill hike through a cloud forest, where a cascade will astonish us, as well as one of the best Incan architectural complexes called Huiñay Huayna, given the abundant presence of a species of orchid that bears the same name which means “Forever Young” in Quechua.

There, we´ll rest to have our meal and will go on with our hike towards the Sun´s Gate or Inti Punku, a place from which we´ll see Machupicchu for the first time, and after having emerged from the awe, we´ll descend to the Guardian´s House, where we´ll rest once more, contemplating the Sun set over this sacred place´s magical mountains. Finally, we´ll board the bus that will take us to our hotel in Aguas Calientes.
